NeuroMat's initiative "Action for Brachial Plexus Injury" - ABRAÇO is a support and welcoming network for patients who suffer a brachial plexus injury, as well to their families. We also hope to provide information so that related professionals can diagnose this sort of lesion earlier and so treat more effectively the individuals affected by this injury.
On the technological transfer front, ABRAÇO will develop new tools to document and investigate the brain plasticity that follows the brachial plexus lesion and its surgical reconstruction through a detailed database. Regarding to the scientific dissemination, in addition to providing information about brachial plexus injury itself, we intend to produce booklets, videos and lectures aimed at patients, caregivers and health professionals.
ABRAÇO is an initiative of the Research, Innovation, and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (RIDC NeuroMat), with FAPESP support, in partnership with the "Núcleo de Pesquisas em Neurociências e Reabilitação" (NPNR) of the Deolindo Couto Institute of Neurology (INDC) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
